For her first solo show partnered with For All Queens, Yema Gieskes dives into the intersectionality of queerness and the African identity. More specifically, Yema Gieskes, looks into the rituals around the Dote and African Weddings. In this exhibition she explores the closeness of the Queer African with their culture when it comes to love without sacrificing neither their Queerness nor their Africaness.
Yema Gieskes is a graphic designer and visual artist based in Brussels. She explores themes such as Black Identity, Femininity, Queerness and Music. Her art and design spans across all forms of media and expression.
