For her first exhibition at that’s what x said, Charlotte Chauvin invites the viewer into her reality. Now viral on social media, she first started publishing her drawings on Tumblr, where her work’s thematic and aesthetics evolved with herself. Since 2017, she’s been sharing snippets of her everyday life on Instagram, using her art to express herself. The artist uses her drawings as an outlet to get through life and her anxieties, but also to share her experiences and desires.
In her work, Charlottehighlights emotions. Her naked bodies, side looks, and knowing smiles tell an intimate story, in a dreamlike atmosphere, far away from physical and sexual dictates. Her refined lines allow the viewers to identify themselves with the artist’s work, and lose themselves in their own fantasies, memories and emotions.
Charlotteoften draws her inspiration from feelings of nostalgia, joy, misfortune, and moments of daily life, but also from loving relationships and breakups, or even anxieties specific to our generation. Charlotteinvites the viewer into her daily life, allowing them to witness her most intimate nostalgic moments, as well as joyous, loving and sensual ones. It’s with a lot of passion and humour that Charlotteshares her personal life and invites herself into our imagination.
