Ingrid Bourgault has trained in graphic design at the CEGEP of Sainte-Foy and in typography at the Ecole de Recherche Graphique. For years, she developed her practice around scientific speculation and popularisation. At the same time, she developed a multidisciplinary artistic practice through illustration, painting, and tufting.
In 2020, she had the idea of representing bodies in her tapestries, mainly fat and feminine bodies. Tapestry is her way to bring a new dimension to drawing. Highlighting both an aesthetic and a political aspect, Ingrid takes tufting beyond decoration and emphasises the need to break societal norms.
