Brussels / Belgium
Laetitia Bica is a Belgian artist based in Brussels. She studied photography at the Institut des Beaux Arts Saint-Luc in Liège. Her photographs embody a process of interdisciplinary dialogue.
Laetitia’s work is inspired by her eclectic artistic career, going from fashion and dance, to publishing and cinema. Her artistic process has an exploratory side to it, deconstructing the codes of photography. She uses different printing mediums such as fabric, PVC, or glass, all contributing to her search for a specific aesthetic. Her complex compositions are imbued with a novel type of materiality and strong colours.
Laetitia has shown her works in solo and collective exhibition in Belgian art spaces (MAAC, Art Brussels, La Biennial de L’image possible), as well as internationally (AEC Liévin, France ; UNSEEN festival Amsterdam). In 2015, a monograph bringing together several years of her work was published by Editions Caïd. In 2007, she received the « Coup d’Eclat » price at the International Festival of Fashion and Photography.
Her complex compositions are imbued with a novel type of materiality and strong colours.
