Joseph Kai

Joseph Kai is an illustrator and comic book artist, member of the Lebanese collective Samandal, with who he started working in 2010. His universe is on the edge of documentary and fiction, finding inspiration in themes such as marginalisation, gender, art and family, all the while experimenting with his lines and drawing style.

Since 2008, Joseph has also worked on designing posters for theatres, music festivals, cinemas and cultural institutions, where he draws inspiration from his personal practice too. Holder of a piano diploma from the Conservatoire National du Liban and a Cultural Projects Management Certificate from the Goethe Institute in Berlin, Joseph is a multidisciplinary artist who draws for youth publications and experiments with classical music and theatre, at the same time as working on his personal work.
