Known as @chaa_coco on Instagram, Charlotte Chauvain’s universe is both poetic and melancholic. Her lines are inspired by the likes of Jean Cocteau and André Masson. They segment bodies imbued with emotions, love, anxieties, eroticism, challenging shapes and their boundaries.
Charlotte studied Communication and Graphic Design in Marseille, before doing a Master in Artistic Practices and Scientific Complexity in Brussels, which is when she started publishing her drawings on Tumblr. Drawing became a form of self-therapy for the artist, who uses it to alleviate her daily stresses. Putting words and images to her emotions enables her to better understand what she feels. Humour is also a big part of her work; it allows her to minimise those anxieties. Through her intimate approach, Charlotte is able to translate human feelings affecting us all. Her work has a kind of universality to it, she becomes a mirror to the viewer and manages to resonate with everyone.
