Iota is a Belgian artist who style is inspired by classical figurative painting. Her current work deals with the representation of the human soul in all its many forms. She joins together bodies and textures to transport the viewer into her own world where the unconscious and emotions have taken over. Attracted to art ever since she was a child, she identified portraiture as her preferred subject matter. Self-taught, Iota explores different mediums; spray cans, oil paint, acrylics and pencils.
Iota mostly depicts faceless bodies, intertwined with each other, merged together to create a new hybrid form. She is able to translate intricate emotions through her carefully considered compositions, plays on light and textures. This world she creates is part of our unconscious. She depicts the human soul through the body, in its truest form. The viewer cannot identify to the people she draws, rather she invites them to empathise and truly feel the emotions breaking away from her work.
